The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) warned the Ummah in detail about the greatest temptation that will come before the Day of Judgement, the Antichrist. At the same time, he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) declared some actions and Surahs as a means of protection from this temptation, among which the first ten verses of Surah Al-Kahf stand out.
The era in which we live today is the era of technology, the digital world, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). AI has the ability to imitate human intellect, decision-making, information, voice, images, and even emotions. In such a situation, the question arises in the minds of many thinkers:
Can modern technology, especially AI, help us understand the temptation of the Antichrist?
And what message do the first verses of Surah Al-Kahf give us in today’s era?
This article examines these questions from a scientific, careful and religious perspective.
The Concept of Dajjal: In the Light of the Quran and Hadith
Who is Dajjal?
The word Dajjal is derived from the Arabic word Dajjal, which means:
- To deceive
- To mix truth with falsehood
- To conceal reality
According to the hadiths of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him):
- The Dajjal will be a human being
- He will display extraordinary powers
- He will call himself God
- He will deceive people about Paradise and Hell
- He will mislead people through knowledge, resources and deception

- can learn (Machine Learning)
- can speak, write, see
- can make decisions
- can create fake things like reality (Deepfake)
AI in itself is neither good nor bad, but:
“It is a tool, the use of which is in the hands of man.”
But the problem arises when:
- Man begins to consider himself omniscient
- Technology is given the status of a god-like power
- Morality and revelation are ignored
This point has an intellectual similarity with the temptation of Dajjal.

Islam does not say that AI is Dajjal
Rather, according to some scholars:
AI can become an example or a means of understanding the temptations of the Dajjal.

The greatest weapon of Dajjal will be deception

- Imitate someone’s voice and appearance
- Make a lie look like the truth
Today, people cannot even believe what they see with their eyes. This is the same condition that is called fitnah in the hadith.

- But it does not have guidance, revelation, and morality

Not all knowledge is guidance unless it is connected to Allah.

All this is becoming possible, which can lead to a person becoming addicted to power.
The first ten verses of Surah Al-Kahaf: A recipe for protection
The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
“Whoever memorizes the first ten verses of Surah Al-Kahaf will be protected from the temptation of the Antichrist.” (Sahih Muslim)

- The superiority of revelation
The very first verse of the Quran declares that:
- The real guidance is from Allah
- Human knowledge is limited

- Protection of Monotheism
In these verses:

The trial of the Antichrist will also be an attack on Monotheism.

The companions of the Cave were young people who:

Surah Al-Kahf tells us that:
- The world is temporary
- Power, knowledge and technology are tests
This awareness protects us from the trial of the Antichrist.

- The ultimate knowledge about Dajjal is with Allah alone
- It is not correct to call AI as Dajjal according to Sharia
- This is just an intellectual example so that we can understand the temptation
Islam does not give us fear but insight.

- If it is used without morality and faith
- If man starts considering himself as God
Then this is what can give rise to Dajjal temptations.
